Having looked at Ade’s album teaser, ‘The City’, recently, we at TMR have been captured by the breezy sound of the NYC singer-songwriter. The upcoming album, Midnight Pizza (due for release on April 23^rd, 2021) features the first official single, ‘Havin’ Fun With Pharaoh’. It started life as a bright, uplifting instrumental but ended up getting its lyrical inspiration from Ade’s own voice notes app. “I ended up all the way back at the original recording of myself sitting at the piano and playing the main riff for the first time some years ago, featuring some of my friends’ voices in the background,” Ade explains. “I found it only fitting to make the song a tribute to the time that that piano part was conceived, the voices in those little recordings, and the friends they belong to.” This deep personal connection adds another layer of warmth and feeling to the track. -Dan Peeke
